About The Big Read
Quincy Public Library is pleased to offer The Big Read in Fall, 2012.
The Big Read will focus on the book "The Things They Carried" by Tim O'Brien. Quincy Public Library will give away copies of the book and will offer a variety of events and activities for adults and teens.
The Big Read kick off event, free and open to the public, will be held Thursday, October 11 at the Illinois Veteran's Home from 11 am - 1 pm. We'll be giving away copies of the book (while supplies last). Enjoy a light lunch. Mayor John Spring will provide the opening remarks and Vietnam veteran Judge Robert Cook will present the keynote speech. The Quincy Notre Dame marching band will perform.
Quincy Public Library's Big Read is truly a community event - from the teachers and educators who helped select the book - to the local businesses whose donations support all The Big Read activties. Thanks to all! Join us as we read and discuss this thought-provoking book.
