Programs/Activities

The Quincy Public Library Children's Department has books, DVDs, CDs and even computers for children to use.  In addition to the wealth of materials available for every age and interest, the Library offers story time and craft activities every week.

Mother Goose Story Time
Mother Goose story time is designed for children 6 months to 18 months of age.  These lap sits have gentle music and songs, books, and lots of popular rhymes.  They are held in the months of February, March, and April, and September, October, and November.

Traditional Story Time
Wednesday-Friday at 10:00 a.m.
Story time is a wonderful chance to expose your child to the love of reading and the excitement of live storytelling. Each session lasts approximately 45 minutes and includes a related craft activity.

Krafty Kids
Thursdays at 4:00 p.m Winter, Labor Day to Memorial Day, Thursdays at 2:00 p.m. Summer, Memorial Day to Labor Day. Children in Grades 1-6 are invited to join the library for some exciting crafts this month. All materials are provided unless otherwise specified.

First Steps Story Time
Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.
First Steps Story Time is geared towards children ages 19 months to 3 years. These storytimes include age appropriate books, colorful props, music and plenty of playtime.

Drop-In Crafts
Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sundays 1 p.m to 5 p.m.
Kids are welcome to drop in anytime between 10 and 2 and work on an array of free crafts provided by the Children’s Department.

Sleepytime Story Time
A special story time presented to children of working parents and everyone who cannot attend regular daytime story time. Wear your pjs and bring your teddy bear. This event is held the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the winter months.

Dial-A-Story
Your child can listen to a story anytime, day or night, just by calling 228-2222. Listen to a different story every week.Z.I.P. (Zany In-Between Programs)On week-days when the children are out of school, the library will present a program. Whether it be craft, an entertainer, or a movie, the library is the place to be when's school's out for the day.

Puppet Shows
Puppet shows are presented the 2nd week of the month September through May, and the week of July 4th in the summer. Marionette and Hand Puppet shows are our specialty.
