Find out at Nitro Joe’s explosive show! Nitro Joe will keep you on the edge of your seat as he presents totally wild and out of control food experiments and more! Discover just how fun food can be!
June 15: Eat, Prey, Love with the Raptor Rehabilitation Center 9:30 & 10:30 a.m.
Fly on down to the Library and enjoy a rare opportunity: the chance to get up close and personal to live eagles, hawks, owls and falcons! Experts from the local Raptor Rehabilitation Center will explain all you need to know about these wild, beautiful, and in some cases, endangered birds. *Children who bring a food donation of packaged chicken, beef, pork, deer, rabbit, or squirrel to be given to the Raptor Rehabilitation Center will receive an additional Leo Buck!
June 22: Cooking Up Fun with Absolutely Jim9:30 & 10:30 a.m.
Comedy-Magician Absolutely Jim is cooking up something special just for the Library: a spicy, hot magic show mixed with culinary comedy! Absolutely Jim uses props, magic, lots of audience participation and his own unique kitchen invention!
June 29: QCT Student Theatre Presents Alice in Wonderland9:30 & 10:30 a.m.
Tumble down the rabbit’s hole into a magical world of nonsense and adventure with the Quincy Community Student Theatre!
July 5: Spoonman 9:30 & 10:30 a.m.
Catch the rhythm of reading as you clap and dance along with the one and only Spoonman! Hop and bop as he makes music magic with ordinary kitchen spoons, but watch out because the Spoonman may even play the spoons on you!
July 13: Comical Tasting & Magical Basting with Mario Luigi 9:30 & 10:30 a.m.
Mario will conjure up culinary comedy as he demonstrates his skills of magic, juggling, and storytelling! Mario will also select chefs from the audience to assist in food games and help him cook a healthy snack for everyone.
July 20: Use Your Noodle with Kinetic Artist Laura Ernst 9:30 & 10:30 a.m.
Kinetic Artist and America’s Got Talent finalist Laura Ernst performs astounding stunts and unbelievable feats of kinetic charisma! Laura uses common items – such as hula hoops, pool noodles, and even yo-yos – in uncommon ways to demonstrate her amazing skills of juggling and strength.
The talented cake decorators of the Hy-Vee Bakery will share everything you need to know from choosing the right type of icing to creating fillings and using a variety of candies for decoration! All materials provided, including cupcakes and decorating utensils; just bring your appetite and imagination!
Whether you're a curious carnivore or a long-time vegetarian, come learn more about the nutrition and flavors of vegetarian cuisine. We'll talk about protein pairings, the array of plant foods available and animal products that fit into sustainable, cruelty-free vegetarian lifestyles. Registered dietician Luz Brown will teach us how to make good food choices. Teens will also cook a vegetarian dish to sample.
