Secondhand Prose, the gently used bookstore at the library, is celebrating its tenth anniversary in October. The store is operated by the Friends of the Library. Secondhand Prose sells gently used donated books at low prices to raise the Quincy Public Library funds. Funds are used to supplement the Library budget and for special unbudgeted projects. Over $313,000 has been raised to support renovations, technology, equipment, and programs and events.
Store hours are from 10 am to 7 pm on Tuesdays, and 10 am to 4 pm, Wednesday-Saturday. During October, weekly specials will be announced, and customers will be entered into drawings for a gift basket and gift cards. Loyalty cards will also be available.
The Friends will also be hosting their annual fall book sale October 21-23 in the Large Meeting Room at the library. The sale will be from 9:30 am to 7:30 pm on Thursday and from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm on Friday and Saturday. Books are sold at the clearance price of fifty cents an inch at the sale.
Anyone interested in volunteering as a Friend of the Library, donating books, or just browsing for bargains, is welcome at the sale and any time the store is open.
