Quincy Public Library is pleased to announce that it will resume limited services on Wednesday, May 27, 2020. Patrons may place holds on books, movies, music, and more via the library’s online catalog or by calling the library at 217-223-1309 ext. 502. Contactless pickup will be available at the library’s holds lockers located outside the front door of the Library, QPL’s Kiosk Branch inside County Market at 48th and Broadway, Lincoln-Douglas School, or Iles School.
Library staff will also be available to provide remote support for reference questions, technical questions, and reader’s advisory questions. Patrons can call the library for assistance or email reference@quincylibrary.org.
Starting on June 1, computer appointments are available to the public Monday-Friday from 9 am to noon for assistance with unemployment, IDES certification, or job searching. Additionally, patrons may make appointments for in-person notary services. Library staff will be contacting patrons who are signed up for homebound delivery to resume contactless service.
Starting on June 8, the building will reopen to the public for limited hours. Patrons are encouraged to wear masks and follow proper social distancing measures. Hours will be Monday-Thursday from 9 am to 6 pm and Friday-Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm. Patrons will be welcome to browse and check out materials, but long-term stay is discouraged. Research appointments are available for those wanting to access materials that cannot be checked out. Additionally, patrons will be encouraged to use the self-checkout stations. Public computers are available during hours the library is open.
The book drop at the library is open for patrons to return checked out material. All other book drops will remain closed. Due dates for all materials has been extended until June 12.
All eservices and downloadables remain available, and patrons may sign-up for a temporary digital library card on the library’s website at quincylibrary.org/library-card. Technical support for these services will be available starting May 27 at 217-223-1309 ext. 502..
In person programs and events, as well as meeting space remain unavailable to the public at this time. However, digital programs will be available in coming weeks through the library’s website and social media pages. The library plans to kickoff a digital Summer Reading program later in June. An announcement will be sent out when plans are finalized.
