Information Services Clerk

DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Assist patrons with the operation of public computers, microfilm machines, copiers, and fax machines. Answer departmental phones, take accurate messages, retrieve materials, and schedule computer sessions as needed. Help patrons locate library materials and use downloadable resources, databases, and online services. Shelve reference materials and maintain the organization and cleanliness of the collection. Open and close public computer stations and other equipment as scheduled. Cross-train in Circulation Services and Children’s Services to provide desk coverage and support as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred. Library or customer service experience preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required. Ability to operate computers using Microsoft Office and library-specific software. Willingness and ability to learn new software programs as needed. Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to friendly, tactful patron service. Ability to contribute to a positive, team-oriented workplace and provide excellent customer service. Ability to handle money accurately and responsibly. Extended periods of computer and desk work. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Ability to lift, push, carry, or pull moderate to heavy materials as needed.

RATE OF PAY:          $15.76 per hour

HOURS:                     Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week with a varying schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.
