2024 sure did pack a lot into a 12-month period.

Here we stand at the end of 2024 & the beginning of 2025. We are hopeful & excited about what the next year will bring. We are facing our resolutions for the year - waiting to see what we will accomplish, debating lifestyle changes, looking at new hobbies to try.

Christmas gets a good chunk of the movies & most of the holiday themed music. But it is not the only game in town!

28 Grammys to his name, an Academy Award for best original score, producer, composer, songwriter. He helped to introduce us to some of the biggest names that will ever exist. We all grew up listening to & watching things that he did.

You may have noticed that the Quincy Public Library has some smaller displays that last roughly a week. These displays can be fun topics (like Shark Week) or they could be things that shoutout days that last a short amount of time (like Mother's Day or Father's Day).

In 2024, the Quincy Public Library (QPL) has once again attained the prestigious National Endowment of the Arts (NEA) Big Read grant. The Big Read awards recipients up to $20,000 to execute community-wide programming around a chosen book.

We wanted to take a moment to look at a juxtaposition currently happening within the walls of the Quincy Public Library. We simultaneously tackle harder topics, while trying to spread joy.

One of the cool things that we as librarians get to do is training -- webinars, workshops, etc. For one week in July, one of our Reference Librarians was in Skokie, attending a workshop at the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center and the topic was how to teach genocide.
