Executive Director Kathleen Helsabeck supervises all staff and activities of the Library. The Executive Director works closely with the Quincy Public Library and the Townships of the Quincy Area Public Library District Boards of Trustees to plan and administer library services.
An Assistant Manager works directly with the staff and patrons to assure that patrons receive quality materials, programs and customer service.
A management assistant keeps all official records and correspondence updated, organized and disseminated as needed.

Audio/Visual staff are responsible for purchasing and maintaining the Library’s vast multimedia collection. This collection includes videos, DVD’s, books on tape, books on compact disc, music compact discs, and downloadable audio and e-books.

The Children’s Library provides age appropriate books and materials, both fiction and non-fiction, for children and young adults from birth through middle school. The Children’s Library is located southwest of the Circulation Desk. It houses children’s materials and provides Internet access and educational computer programs for children up to 6th grade. The Teen Zone is located in the south side of the Main Library just past the restrooms. The Teen Zone provides materials for young adults as well as computers, a game table and comfortable furniture just for teens.

Circulation staff are responsible for registering new patrons, issuing library cards and the circulation of Library materials. The Circulation Desk is the place to return materials, check out materials, pick up holds, renew your library card, pay fines or fees and purchase a non-resident card.

The Friends of the Quincy Public Library is a non-profit organization that supports the Library by establishing a closer relationship between the Library and its patrons. The Friends run Secondhand Prose, a gently used book store located off the Library’s main lobby. The group also assumes various projects and sponsors special Library events. The Friends meet regularly throughout the year to discuss organization business.

Information Services is the place to go for answers. Librarians will answer questions, assist with research and provide instruction in the use of Library resources and equipment. Special features include the Illinois Room, for local history and genealogical research, computers for public access, and technology tutors. Library users may access the Internet, check their e-mail, access research databases, and use basic word processing or other software programs. Patrons may also utilize the Library’s wireless network to access the Internet from their personal devices. Technology tutors can help teach limited computing tasks for your computer or device.

Marketing and Events staff are responsible for developing and implementing Library programs and activities for all ages, as well as keeping the public informed of Library services and events.

Outreach Services provides large print books and specialized materials to patrons with special needs. Outreach is responsible for the Library’s delivery service. Any patron who is temporarily or permanently unable to visit the library due to age, illness or disability is eligible to receive deliveries. The Library also provides a school delivery service to help teachers and their students receive books and materials to supplement the curriculum. Outreach Services are available at the Information Services Desk and by request.

The Technical Services staff are responsible for ordering books and other materials for the Library. They also enter the materials into the Library catalog and prepare them for circulation. The Technical Services staff work closely with the Circulation staff to insure that information in the catalog is accurate and current.
