QPL policies help insure equitable access to library services for all residents living within the Library’s service area. To view the full text of all library patron policies, click here.
A Quincy Public Library card is issued free to all residents and property owners of Quincy School District #172. The Townships of the Quincy Area Public Library District is included within these boundaries. To apply for a card, you must show valid photo identification which has your name and current address on it. Children, birth to eighteen years of age, need the signature of a parent or legal guardian to obtain a library card.
To prevent unauthorized use, you should notify the library promptly if your card is lost or stolen. Name or address changes should also be reported. You will be responsible for all items borrowed on the card until the library is notified of its loss. A replacement card set will be issued for $2.
All library materials must be checked out. Please present your library card each time you borrow items. LIBRARY CARDS ARE NON TRANSFERABLE.
Library computer users must have a valid QPL card in good standing. Computers may be reserved and used in sessions of one or two hours. One additional hour may be allowed if computers are available. No more than three hours per day will be allowed.
Items may be renewed if they are not on reserve for another patron. Renewals are granted in person or by telephone. Renewals of overdue items are also allowed.
Our automated system easily allows you to place requests for every item in the library’s collection. We will notify you by phone or by mail when your items are available.
Library materials may be returned to the Circulation desk at the Main Library or any of the conveniently located book drops. Book drops are located at the QPL Branch at County Market, 48th and Broadway (Inside cafe); the Quincy Mall parking lot, south mall entrance, (passenger side drive up); Wal-Mart parking lot (passenger side drive up); HyVee parking lot, 12th and Harrison (driver side drive up); Save-A-Lot parking lot, 12th and Locust (driver side drive up); Lincoln-Douglas School (near the front door), Iles Elementary School (near the front door), and Quincy Public Library front entrance.
