Out of an abundance of caution and due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the area, Quincy Public Library will move to appointment only services to limit the number of people in the building starting on Monday, Nov. 23, 2020. The following services will be available between 10 am and 2 pm, Monday through Friday:
Appointments may be made by calling 217-223-1309 ext. 502.
Additionally, the library will begin curbside pick up. Curbside pick up for materials will be available from 3 pm to 6 pm Monday through Thursday, and 3 pm to 5 pm on Fridays. Patrons may reserve their material online and call the library to set up their curbside appointment, or call the library to request materials and set up their appointment. Patrons will be asked to pull up under the awning at the front door and call the library when they arrive to pick up their materials and QPL staff will place them in the vestibule for pick up.
The library continues to offer the Grab and Go Hold Lockers, available 24/7 for contactless pick up of materials. The lockers are located outside at the main building (526 Jersey St.), Lincoln Douglas Elementary, and Iles Elementary. Lockers are also available inside County Market on 48th St. To pick up materials at the locker locations, patrons may place a hold through the library’s online catalog (https://alsi.sdp.sirsi.net/client/en_US/QuincyPL/) and select their pick-up location, or call the library to place a hold. Once their hold is ready, patrons may access their locker by typing in the last four digits of their library card number.
Patrons who don’t have a specific title in mind but would like to check out materials can take advantage of QPL’s new Q-Picks Subscription Service. Patrons may fill out a form online listing their preferences on books or movies, and QPL librarians will select material for them to try. This form is available online at https://www.quincylibrary.org/q-picks/.
Additionally, QPL Librarians are available for reference questions via phone or email from 9 am to 6 pm at 217-223-1309 ext. 502 or reference@quincylibrary.org.
All overdue fines will be temporarily suspended. Additionally, all library cards set to expire will be automatically renewed. Those wanting to sign up for a library card may sign-up online at https://www.quincylibrary.org/library-card/ for a temporary digital card to access all the library’s e-resources, available 24/7.
The library will continue to offer virtual programs on its social media pages and website. For a complete calendar of upcoming virtual programs, please visit http://quincylibrary.evanced.info/signup/calendar.
Home delivery and school delivery will continue. Additionally, the book vending machine kiosk at County Market will continue to have materials available for checkout.
The library will maintain all normal operating hours through 8 pm on Wednesday, Nov. 18, and will be closed Nov. 19-22 before resuming the appointment only services on Monday, Nov. 23. The Friends of the Library Bookstore, Secondhand Prose, will be temporarily closed.
