Whether you were introduced to her in those movies featuring Macauley Culkin or her work with Tim Burton, we all lost a little something in Catherine O'Hara's recent passing.
O'Hara was in several Tim Burton movies - Beetlejuice & Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas, & Frankenweenie. She was also in both Home Alone & Home Alone II. Many of us tie her to Tim Burton and/or Home Alone (likely because these things are in the zeitgeist), but Catherine O'Hara has done more than that. O'Hara was an understudy for the late great Gilda Radner on Saturday Night Live & appeared on Who's Line Is It Anyway? She had voice over work outside of Tim Burton's animated movies, having voiced characters in Bartok the Magnificent, Disney's Chicken Little, Over the Hedge, Where the Wild Things Are, the animated version of The Addams Family, Monster House, Wild Robot, & Elemental. Then there are O'Hara's live action work - Wyatt Earp, Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, Temple Grandin, Disney's Tall Tale, Dick Tracy, Schitt's Creek, Lemony Snickett's A Series of Unfortunate Events, Penelope, episodes of Six Feet Under, & episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
O'Hara has been nominated for a Golden Globe (Best Actress in a Comedy Series) for Schitt's Creek; four Emmys (two for Best Ensemble & two for Best Actress in a Comedy Series) for Schitt's Creek; & another Emmy (Outstanding Actress in a Miniseries or TV Movie) for Temple Grandin.
Catherine O'Hara has been part of many of our childhoods & several of our adulthoods. She is & will be missed.
