Remembering Sophie Kinsella

On December 10, 2025, popular author Sophie Kinsella passed away.

Sophie Kinsella was born on December 12, 1969 in London England. She initially worked as a financial journalist before turning her hand at writing fiction - writing under the names of Madeleine Wickham & Sophie Kinsella at different times during her career. What she became known for is the Shopaholic series.  (The Quincy Public Library does have a copy of Confessions of a Shopaholic, the movie, in addition to the books within the Shopaholic series.) However, she has written other things:

In 2024, What Does It Feel Like? was selected as one of the New York Times' 100 Notable Books of the Year & was listed among the Guardian's five best romance books of the year. Kinsella was shortlisted as one of the British Book Awards' Author of the Year in 2025.

In 2022, Kinsella was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer known as glioblastoma & eventually underwent neurosurgery for it. On December 10, 2025, she passed away due to the glioblastoma.
