From resume writing to mock interviews the staff at the Library alongside human resource professionals from area businesses will answer every question job seekers have and cover topics they may not have even considered. Professionals from Blessing Health Systems, DOT Transportation Inc., Knapheide Manufacturing, Kohl Wholesale, John Wood Community College and the Quincy Humane Society will act as panelists and presenters.
Nationwide the country will celebrate its diverse and irreplaceable architecture and heritage during Preservation Month in May. The 2012 theme is “Discover America’s Hidden Gems,” and no place is better suited to enjoy the month-long celebration than the “Gem City” region. Get off the couch and get on your sneakers for a fun-filled day in the park with the Quincy Public Library Teen Advisory Board crew! Members of the TAB board are challenging local area teens to a down and dirty fight to the death ala the Hunger Games Challenge. Teens will have to eliminate their opponents in this not too gory duel to the death. Teens will have an opportunity to kick their competitive spirit into high gear at this active and, not to put too fine a point on it, interactive happening. Gear up for summer as you wind down from school at this end-of-year event! Teens meet in the lower level baseball diamond area at South Park.

Quincy Public Library and the Historical Society of Quincy and Adams County are proud to present a program on Annie Jonas Wells (1841-1926) daughter of Abraham and Louisa Block Jonas presented by Cynthia Gensheimer, an economist and author from Amherst, Massachusetts. Jonas Well's father was a close friend of Abraham Lincoln and a leading Mason and politician whose story has been frequently told. Gensheimer will discuss Annie's childhood as the seventh of nine children in a prominent Jewish family in Quincy, her work during the Civil War, and as a charter member of the study group Friends in Council.
