Event Details

In honor of Women’s History Month, join us for a powerful movie series celebrating the women who have served—and continue to serve—in our military. Through films spanning historical to contemporary stories, we’ll explore the evolving roles, challenges, and contributions of women in wartime and military service.

Each session will feature a film followed by a discussion, offering space to reflect on themes such as resilience, leadership, representation, and the barriers women have faced and overcome. This series shines a spotlight on the trailblazers, innovators, and everyday heroes whose service has helped shaped both military history and our nation.

All are welcome to attend any or all sessions in the series. All movies play at 1 pm.

Week 1, March 6th: Into the Fire: American Women in the Spanish Civil War. This documentary follows nearly 80 American women who volunteered in 1936 to support medical, humanitarian, and communications efforts during the Spanish Civil War. Their stories illustrate the motivations, risks, and courage involved in participating in an international conflict far from home.

Week 2, March 13th: Women of World War II: The Untold Stories. Uncover the hidden history of World War II with firsthand accounts from the women who cracked the codes and built the ships. With exclusive, never-before-seen interviews– from “Fly Girls” who saved their fellow pilots, to “Rosie-the-Riveters” who kept those planes in the air– learn how these unsung heroes inspired and empowered future generations by winning the war.

Week 3, March 20th: Megan Leavey. From IMDB: Based on the true life story of a young Marine corporal whose unique discipline and bond with her military combat dog saved many lives during their deployment. Megan Leavey is a US Marine corporal who served as a Military Police K9 handler. She was paired with military working dog Rex (E168). The pair served two deployments in Iraq together. Leavey was awarded the Purple Heart and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with a "V" device denoting heroism in combat.

Week 4, March 27th: The Invisible War. Directed by Kirby Dick, this investigative documentary examines the issue of sexual assault within the U.S. military. The film presents interviews, reporting, and perspectives that brought national attention to the topic and sparked discussions about policy and institutional reform.
