Welcome to Part Five of QPL's Self-Sufficiency Series: Canning and Pickling Your Produce
Canning and pickling are time-honored practices and ways to preserve your harvest so that you can enjoy it year-round. A surprising number of things can be canned or pickled!
Fresh store winter produce has to travel long distances to get to you, and loses a lot of its nutritional value in the process, so your home canned goods will often be more nutritious than "fresh" produce bought in the store! Plus, when you do your own canning, you are 100% in control of what goes in your food!
We will cover water bath canning, pressure cooker canning, when and how to use each method, and pickling-- including how to make your own vinegar!
This is part of a series of six programs. QPL wants to give you the opportunity to learn as much as you can during this series. Anyone who attends all six programs will be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift card!
